The rocket project was hosted by CSEO during the summer of 2022 as an internship for people to familiarize themselves with rocket and space engineering. The aim of the project was to create a rocket engine, and more specifically a solid rocket motor to power a rocket of approximately one meter to fly up to one kilometer.
The engine and the propellant of the engine were created in-house by mixing various chemicals. Thinker Maker Space had a vital role in the project since it facilitated and consulted the fabrication process. The makerspace technicians aided the CSEO team by designing and 3D printing a few other parts and a customized mould that was later used for casting the engine propellant. Additionally the technicians helped to create the customized tooling on the laser cutter needed for the static fire test that had to be conducted prior to the launching.
