O I T

“O I T” is a project developed by resident artist Johannes Jakobi.

Johannes focused on laser cutting and 3D printing to enrich his body of work about shapes. Some of the shapes in the show are close to written language, while others are close to symbols. Most of them generate something half-semiotic: shapes that somehow remind the viewer of something representative, but also appear vague and off, exploring a space in between sign and gesture. A gesture draws from a trained repertoire of movements—movements which have been internalized and automated in such a manner that little cognition is required to process a certain task. In this way, a state of flow might be reached.

The residency is supported  with the financial assistance of the European Union.
