“Narratives From Invisibility and Silence” is a project developed by resident artist Xin Yang.
How do invisible networks and hidden narratives shape our environments? Narratives From Invisibility and Silence is a diverse investigation that will lead to a spatial, multimedia installation combining glass paintings depicting micro-world activities, pigment-based compositions, and audiovisual media. Through research into the colours and sediments of water and soil collected from various sites across Cyprus — including the grayish-green sediments of the Larnaca Salt Lake bed, the bright yellow crusts forming near the Red Mine Lake, and the bluish-gray residues from desalination plants — the project seeks to dismantle and reveal the hidden stories embedded within these materials. It traces the unseen ecological, technological, and historical networks that connect these sites, transforming their silences into visual narratives.
